From 22. of May it is possible to view The Midnight Sun, a phenomenon where the sunshine is visible all day and night. Up in the mountains surrounding the city it is possible to combine this with outdoor activities, - for instance skiing downhill (off-pist). -

The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon occurring in summer time north of the Arctic Circle. In the city of Tromsoe it is possible to do so from 20. of May to 22. of July. The sun remains visible at the local midnight. Given fair weather, the sun is visible for a continuous 24 hours.
